More Display. Less Wiring.
A standard 16×2 LCD can require several connections to a microcontroller. Adding an I²C interface backpack makes the same character display much easier to integrate into compact electronics projects.
This 16×2 LCD Display with I²C Interface Module allows a compatible microcontroller to communicate with the display over the I²C (Inter-Integrated Circuit) bus, using just four connections:
VCC | GND | SDA | SCL
The attached I²C backpack typically uses a PCF8574-family I/O expander to interface the parallel LCD with the two-wire I²C bus. An onboard potentiometer allows the display contrast to be adjusted, while a jumper commonly provides control of the LCD backlight.
With 16 characters across two rows, the display is ideal for showing sensor readings, measurements, system status, menus, alerts, counters, and other short messages.
It is an excellent choice for Arduino, IoT, robotics, automation, embedded systems, and STEM education, particularly when you want to save microcontroller GPIO pins and keep your breadboard wiring clean.
