16×2 LCD Display with I²C Interface Module

Original price was: ₹ 250.00.Current price is: ₹ 165.00.

Simplify LCD wiring with this 16×2 Character LCD Display with a pre-attached I²C interface module. The I²C backpack reduces the display connection to four essential wires—VCC, GND, SDA and SCL—making it ideal for Arduino, IoT, robotics, sensor displays, and STEM electronics projects.

More Display. Less Wiring.

A standard 16×2 LCD can require several connections to a microcontroller. Adding an I²C interface backpack makes the same character display much easier to integrate into compact electronics projects.

This 16×2 LCD Display with I²C Interface Module allows a compatible microcontroller to communicate with the display over the I²C (Inter-Integrated Circuit) bus, using just four connections:

VCC | GND | SDA | SCL

The attached I²C backpack typically uses a PCF8574-family I/O expander to interface the parallel LCD with the two-wire I²C bus. An onboard potentiometer allows the display contrast to be adjusted, while a jumper commonly provides control of the LCD backlight.

With 16 characters across two rows, the display is ideal for showing sensor readings, measurements, system status, menus, alerts, counters, and other short messages.

It is an excellent choice for Arduino, IoT, robotics, automation, embedded systems, and STEM education, particularly when you want to save microcontroller GPIO pins and keep your breadboard wiring clean.

Key Features

4-Wire I²C Connection

The attached I²C backpack simplifies the LCD connection to:

VCC → Power
GND → Ground
SDA → I²C Data
SCL → I²C Clock

This significantly reduces wiring compared with directly connecting the LCD's parallel interface.

Saves Microcontroller Pins

Instead of using multiple GPIO pins for the LCD's parallel interface, the I²C version communicates through the microcontroller's I²C bus.

This leaves more GPIO pins available for sensors, buttons, LEDs, motors, and other project components.

Built-In Contrast Adjustment

The onboard potentiometer lets you adjust the LCD contrast to achieve better character visibility under different lighting and viewing conditions.

Blue Backlight

The integrated blue backlight provides a clear and attractive interface for electronics projects, classroom demonstrations, and embedded devices.

Ready for Rapid Prototyping

The pre-attached I²C module eliminates the need to purchase and separately wire an external backpack, making the display convenient for breadboard-based projects.

I²C Address

The I²C address is not guaranteed to be the same for every module.

Common addresses found on 16×2 I²C LCD modules include:

0x27 and 0x3F

However, the actual address depends on the I²C backpack and its configuration.

If the display is not detected by your microcontroller, use an I²C scanner to identify the address of the connected module.

Arduino Compatibility

The module is commonly used with:

Arduino UNO
Arduino Nano
Arduino Mega
Other compatible Arduino boards
Compatible microcontroller development boards

Arduino projects can typically control the display using an appropriate I²C LCD library.

Because library implementations and backpack pin mappings can vary, the correct library configuration may depend on the specific I²C backpack supplied.

ESP32 / ESP8266 Compatibility

The LCD module is typically designed around a 5V supply, while boards such as the ESP32 and ESP8266/NodeMCU use 3.3V logic.

Before connecting this module directly to a 3.3V development board, verify the I²C backpack's electrical characteristics and logic-level requirements.

An appropriate logic-level interface or level-shifting arrangement may be required depending on the specific module.

Educational Applications

This module is useful for teaching:

I²C communication
Microcontroller interfacing
Digital electronics
Sensor integration
Data visualization
Human-machine interfaces
Embedded programming
GPIO management
Serial communication concepts
