The Arduino® UNO R4 WiFi (ABX00087) brings a major performance and connectivity upgrade to the familiar Arduino UNO platform.

At its core is the Renesas RA4M1, a 32-bit Arm® Cortex®-M4 microcontroller running at 48 MHz, with 256 KB Flash memory, 32 KB SRAM, and 8 KB EEPROM. Alongside it, an ESP32-S3-MINI-1-N8 module provides Wi-Fi® and Bluetooth® Low Energy connectivity for wireless and IoT applications.

The UNO R4 WiFi keeps the familiar UNO form factor, pinout, and 5V operating voltage, making it a natural upgrade path for many existing UNO-based projects and shields, although individual shields and peripherals should always be checked for electrical and software compatibility.

What makes this board particularly useful for modern STEM and IoT development is the collection of built-in peripherals. You get a programmable 12×8 red LED matrix, Qwiic I²C connector, CAN bus, 12-bit DAC, Real-Time Clock, USB-C® connectivity, and wireless networking without requiring separate expansion boards for every function.

Built-In Wi-Fi® & Bluetooth® Low Energy The integrated ESP32-S3 module adds wireless connectivity, making the UNO R4 WiFi suitable for connected sensors, cloud dashboards, remote monitoring, and IoT prototypes. Programmable 12×8 LED Matrix The onboard 12×8 red LED matrix allows you to create animations, icons, scrolling text, indicators, and simple graphical displays without connecting a separate LED matrix. Familiar UNO Form Factor The board maintains the familiar UNO form factor, pinout, and 5V operating voltage, making it easier to transition existing UNO-based projects to the R4 generation. Qwiic I²C Connectivity The onboard Qwiic connector provides a convenient way to connect compatible 3.3V I²C peripherals with suitable Qwiic cables, reducing wiring complexity during prototyping. CAN Bus The board includes CAN functionality, making it suitable for learning and prototyping communication systems commonly used in automotive and industrial applications. An external CAN transceiver is required. Built-In DAC The UNO R4 WiFi includes a 12-bit Digital-to-Analog Converter, opening up applications involving analog signal generation, audio experiments, and other projects requiring a true analog output. Real-Time Clock The onboard RTC can be used for timekeeping, scheduling, timestamping, and data-logging applications. The board also provides VRTC and OFF functionality for battery-powered RTC applications. USB-C® & HID Support USB-C® provides the main computer connection for programming and communication. The board also supports USB HID functionality, allowing compatible projects to emulate devices such as a mouse or keyboard.
Power Options	The UNO R4 WiFi can be powered through: USB-C® The USB-C connector provides a 5V supply for normal USB-powered operation. VIN / DC Barrel Jack The recommended input range through VIN or the DC barrel jack is 6V to 24V. Important: Do not apply 24V through the USB-C connector. The 6–24V specification applies to the VIN/DC-jack input path.
Compatibility	The UNO R4 WiFi maintains the classic UNO form factor and 5V logic environment, making it suitable for many existing UNO projects and shields. However, compatibility should not be assumed for every legacy module or shield. Check the electrical requirements, voltage levels, libraries, pin assignments, and software support of individual peripherals before connecting them.

Important Compatibility Information	The UNO R4 WiFi contains both 5V and 3.3V domains. The main RA4M1 operates at 5V, while the ESP32-S3 operates at 3.3V internally. The board incorporates appropriate interfacing between these domains. The Qwiic connector is intended for 3.3V I²C peripherals, so do not connect arbitrary 5V I²C devices to the Qwiic connector without verifying compatibility.
